Okay so I found out about a Filipino singer named Regine Velasquez, when I was looking at some Mariah Carey videos on YouTube. There were all of these videos of her singing Mariah Carey songs like, "Heartbreaker", "My All", "Butterfly, and "Emotions". She also covers other songs like, "I Don't Want to Miss A Thing" by Aerosmith, and a lot of other people's songs. I've never heard of a "professional" singer who can get away with singing everybody else's songs. In my opinion, she has a nice voice, but the songs that she covers, particularly Mariah's, don't compliment her voice at all, and she sings without emotion! Personally, it bugs me because I like true artist, who write their own material. It doesn't bother me that singers does covers, but it bother's me that she constantly does covers, all the time! So I was wondering why Regine sings other people's songs so much (mostly Mariah's)?

Regine Velasquez (born Regina Encarnacion Ansong Velasquez on April 22, 1970) is a Filipina singer, actress, record producer and TV host. She won the 1989 Asia Pacific Singing Contest in Hong Kong and is widely known for possessing a wide and powerful vocal range.Velasquez received the PARI as Best Selling Female Artist of All Time in the Philippines. She sold more than 3,000,000+ albums in the Philippines and almost 500,000+ units in in Asia.In 1989, Regine was chosen to represent the Philippines in the Asia-Pacific Singing Contest held in Hong Kong. At first Regine declined, but with much convincing from her friends she agreed to represent the country. And on Dec. 23, 1989, Regine won the grand prize with her song, "You'll Never Walk Alone" from Carousel and "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" from Dreamgirls. Her win garnered her celebrity status. Because of her victory, it became the starting point of her career as the "Asia's Songbird." Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco (born May 10, 1992), better known as Charice, is a Filipina singer who rose to popularity through YouTube. Dubbed by Oprah Winfrey as the Most Talented Girl in the World,[1] she is the first solo Asian artist in history to land in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 album chart. Charice was also featured in J-14 Magazine, a publication magazine in the US, and hailed as the "Icon of Tomorrow".One of her famous song was "Pyramid" released on February23, 2010 from her international debut album and debuted at #46 on the Billboard Dance/Club play songs charts and quickly soared to #1 spot.

Admit it or not, no one could never deny the fact that Regine Velasquez if not the best Filipina singer, second to perfection. Persnally speaking, I have never seen yet the next Filipina to sing like Regine: with her age now, the power still reigns in her. That's Regine. Have you already seen he next one?
