Lake County had even more representation at the Senior Spelling Bee in Springfield in one Doris Beamish. The 75-year-old Round Lake Beach woman won third place, although you can technically say she took second because two people tied for first when they ran out of words. Beamish joined another Lake Countian, Jean Smith, 78, of Gurnee, who took seventh place.
