Salo is not for the faint of heart. The object of controversy since its initial release in 1975, Pier Paolo Pasolini 's film (his last, as he was murdered shortly after filming wrapped) has been subject to censorship all over the world due the film's nudity, sexual content, violence, and the sheer nastiness of a few scenes.

For two years, Eric Hatch, the series' programmer, had put together a lively and original slate that typically attracted 150 to 200 people, including younger audiences new to the museum.
